Great oster beehive blender Sources
this is my 3rd blender. i’ve had the cuisinart duet (bought that for my sister and gave mine to my mom) and hence i was blenderless for about a year. debated between the waring pro blender that everyone sees on foodtv, another cuisinart and the kitchenaid.
Both the cuisinart and kitchenaid are nice blenders, but they don’t crush ice as well as this one. The waring, as beautiful as it is, just is overpriced for what you get. there aren’t many things this oster can’t do. granted it’s only got 1 speed and pulse, but what do you really need?
i never found that i used all 21 speeds on my cuisinart anyways, and this definitely crushes ice better. plus it’s got the beautiful aesthetics of a matte finish and flat silver trim. my only wish is that the power cord were a tad longer. i love the fact that this has a square metal contact mount to the motor. all the others are plastic. not that i’ve ever had any of them break on me, but knowing that this is metal, gives me more confidence that this won’t fail due to the contact area.
if you get this blender, i’m sure you’ll be making a ton more smoothies as i know i will.

parts for black and decker blenders Free Related Tip
My wife and I had two cheap plastic blenders that burned up on us from normal use so we bought this blender because it seemed solid and we liked the look of it. After using it for 2 years we are very satisfied. It has blended many smoothies and blended ice coffee drinks with no problem and still performs like new. I would highly recommend this blender to anyone.
Compared to a Hamilton-Beach blender of equal power this was more expensive. It worked well for 3 years, but then the seal on the shaft that goes into the bottom started leaking. I plan to purchase a new part to replace the damaged one because it would be more expensive to replace the blender. Pros; looks good. Adequately crushes ice. Cons: noisy, only one speed (holding the toggle up gives you another slightly different speed, but requires manually holding the toggle the whole time). Overall it seems adequate, average, functional, but not remarkable in any way.
[[ASIN:B00006FMT9 Oster Beehive Chrome Blender] This classic so far is durable in the kitchen. I use it almost daily to make protien shakes. I like it becasuse unlike computers that change for the sake of change in remains the same.. “They know a good thing when they find it.”
I was very excited to receive this blender after reading all the reviews. However, when I received this blender, I was extremely disappointed. This is by far the loudest appliance ever! I thought something was wrong, so I double-checked to make sure everything was in place. I put in 3 cups of ice and expected they would all be crushed, that didn’t happen. I had to remove the many pieces of icecubes in order to give my children the snow cones they were expecting. I will return this product!
I love this blender! I bought it at Target for $60 based solely on how it looks, and have been very pleased with the purchase for the last two weeks.
Every day I blend a frozen fruit smoothie and have experienced none of the problems that other reviewers have with the fruit processing. I have to assume that they are either not using enough liquid or perhaps aren’t even blending long enough. While the machine is certainly loud (the engine is housed in metal, what did you think it was going to sound like?) it’s about as loud as my KitchenAid stand mixer. In other words: yes, you might wake up people sleeping in the house, but why are you blending ice in the middle of the night, anyway?
I think another consideration is that blending takes a minor amount of skill. If you want a thick, frozen fruit smoothie, you can’t just flip it on and walk away. You have to pulse for the first few blends, until all the large chunks have had a pass through, and then you might have to tap the air pocket out a few times. This is how ALL home blenders are. Only the most powerful, expensive blenders get around the tapping of the air bubble, and some of those ones can’t even do it — I know, I’ve used a $500 blender at work.
Like I said, for the price? This is a lovely appliance, both in function and form.
My old blender was an Oster; we got it when we were married 40 years ago. I loved it and finally wore it out. Naturally my new blender had to be an Oster. I love the Beehive; it does exactly what it promises. With only 2 speeds it does what my older 8 speed did only more quickly and effeciently. It is very classy looking too.
My new $37 “beehive” sits next to my soon-to-be-repaired $100+ KitchenAid, and it works great. I make smoothies every morning for breakfast and this baby kicks it. My son is brutal: ignores all procedural instructions, fills it with p.b., bananas, ice, and yogurt and then turns it on! It pauses a second then gets right to work. I’m like, “you have to put the ice in while it’s running,” and he’s, “No you don’t.” We rarely take it apart to clean it, just rinse right away, sometimes a little suds, eh voila, it’s done. I can tell you though the blades they are sharp!
Regarding other reviews, it is loud, but hey, it’s a blender! And do not need any other speeds, just the one and pulse. Can’t say about frozen drinks/ice slushees, however does fine with ice for smoothies. Great deal!
I recently purchased the Oster 4096-009 because my old blender couldn’t handle making the frozen fruit smoothies I really enjoy. I chose this product because the brand and style has been around since my mother was young. I was a little turned off by the idea of the glass beaker so I ordered the stainless replacement and put away the glass one. I also ordered the blend-n-go cup because of the smoothie thing. The blender is awesome. It looks great on my countertop and works better than any I have ever owned. Don’t be put off by the concept that this blender only has two speeds - that’s all you need. Be honest - how many times have you used anything more than pulse or full bore on your blender? I thought about it and realized that was all I ever used. This is one heavy duty unit, capable of reducting ice to snow and frozen fruit and alcohol into some incredible frozen drinks. A must have for anyone who’s into shakes, smoothies or other blended products.

Before this we got a simple Beehive from Walmart with a two position rotary switch. Reviewers had whined about the noise, but it did good work. It would develop bubbles at the blades (sound and fury, doing not much) so it required a lot of tending. Unfortunately a spoon left in it caused the motor shaft to break where it’s designed to protect idiots from themselves. The model was discontinued everywhere. I settled for one of those programmed Oster blenders from Walmart that falsely advertised 600 watts. Much quieter. If you let it run long enough it does a pretty good job of grinding up the ice. By then it has also melted the ice a lot.
This one is louder than the Beehive described at the top of this review. It grinds the ice so good. It doesn’t develop bubbles at the blades. It doesn’t bob the slurry up and down. It gets the job done fast. It doesn’t melt the ice.
We have owned this blender for two years, and it has flawlessly blended my frozen fruit smoothies to a creamy delight.
Being vegans, we use the blender daily, for many types of foods. I honestly believe that I have hearing damage from this blender. It is so loud that when I run from the kitchen while it is blending and into the living room (there is a wall between the kitchen and the living room) my husband and I have to yell to be able to hear each other talk. This is not exaggeration or a joke. I am looking for a blender that is not so loud but works as well, and it is hard to know what to buy.
I bought this blender to crush ice in protein shakes based on all the glowing reviews. I thought the complaints about the noise were over reactions. Boy, was I wrong. The sound that this blender makes is horrendous! If it weren’t so much effort to send it back, I would have done so immediately after my first use. And, it really doesn’t do that great of a job crushing ice. The number of times you have to stop the motor, scrape the contents down so that they will continue to blend just isn’t worth it! Contents just can’t get over or around that air pocket that forms at the bottom of the jar. Far better to buy the Waring Pro electric ice crusher and use your old blender. I did and am much happier. If this is your first blender, try something that doesn’t come with an ear protector warning!
I was impressed with this product. when my other oster blender stopped working, i went to my favorite place to get a replacement. amazon did not only sale this product at a great price, i got it send to me free. best of the deal is when i used the blender to blend beans, i was pleased, it did make a really loud noisy and had air forcefully coming from the base, but it did the job well and i would recommend this blender to friends, i have just purchased it, but i pray it last because it does what it was meant to do well.
I finally had to replace the blade of this blender after nearly 40 years. The replacement works like a charm!
Thrilled to find this replacement blade online! It really saved the day and my favorite blender. Works like a charm.
I thought I was going to have to buy a new blender. I purchased this blade and now it’s like a new blender!!!
I ordered 2 (6 POINT BLADES). BOTH WERE DULL.
I do not understand that! They work, but do not made SMOOTH ice - as the ones did from OSTER I ordered. These just made tiny balls! Not good!
This blade makes great frozen drinks such as margarita’s.A couple trays of ice and some liquid and you got an instant slushie.Beware of phony knockoffs sold on e-bay and Amazon marketplace sellers.Make sure it has Oster engraved on it.Buy from Amazon itself with free supersaver shipping(must spend 25.00).
This is a great product, I use it to store my extra homemade fresh fruit and vegetable juice. The cover makes a good tight seal that can be shaken the next morning, opened, drinkstraw nice size to drink straight from the jar. Whole thing can be washed in the dishwasher. Very handy.
