They are cheap plastics and NOT made by Oster.

OMG!!! This is the best Ice Crushing blade ever! It does the job! I use it for juicing too. It takes an apple seeds, core & peel and instant apple juice! Raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, NO SEEDS! This blade grinds them into any smoothie. I love this BLADE!

Of course, this blade is exactly what it says it is. It was delivered quickly and in the original box in perfect condition.

I really like the concept of this jar. It worked great, blending up some chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. It was also easier to get the finished product out and into my dish than if I’d used the full blender jar. However…

I put this in the dishwasher and after three washings, it has a myriad of spider cracks around the inside at the base. Beware that this item does not appear to be dishwasher safe. I’d still buy it — I just wouldn’t put it in the dishwasher!

THE MINI JAR IS VERY USEFUL FOR SMALL JOBS.
IT IS GREAT FOR MAKING BABY FOOD.

Because I needed to buy a new blade anyway, I decided to get the bottom cap also, as my old one was looking a bit rough. It was a waste of money, though. The blender would work with the new cap, but it didn’t work as well as it usually does. Because the new bottom cap wasn’t an exact fit, it took me twice as long to make my smoothies as it normally does. I wouldn’t buy a new bottom cap unless you absolutely have to. I went back to using my old one.

I needed to replace my blade, and I bought this bottom cap at the same time because the old one had a few hairline cracks, though it still worked fine. The new cap would not screw on tightly. The blender jar just kept spinning and spinning when I tried to screw it on. It leaked when I used the blender. I returned it right away. Lucky my old one still works.

I bought this as an indestructible replacement for the glass jar my Oster blender came with because I was pretty clumsy with the jar of the old blender. I was afraid I would break the glass one. This product is awesome - it looks incredible sitting atop the polished stainless base of the Oster stainless beehive blender I purchased. Gives a very modern look to the classic lines of the beehive.

I was fortunate enough to buy my Osterizer with the metal jar (it came with the plastic one as well, which I never use). For the most part, I use my blender to make protein shakes (with plenty of ice and fruit - I keep frozen banana chunks on hand as well as mango chunks, strawberries, blueberries, etc). The metal jar keeps the shake ‘colder’ and feels almost like getting a milkshake at an old 50’s diner! Plus as has been said by the previous reviewer, it won’t crack or break (the plastic jar got water in between the layers almost immediately - I still have it somewhere but as said never use it). I’ve dropped the jar on the floor a few times and it hasn’t even dented. It’s also easy to keep clean and totally dishwasher safe! HIGHLY recommended.
