My cheap Oster blender that cost $29.95 on sale far outlasted and outperformed this blender. The polycarbonate pitcher cracked after about a year of sporadic use–and mostly to puree soups. When I contacted customer service, they said that they discontinued this model and have no replacement parts. For that money, buy a KitchenAid–their customer service is excellent and you can buy spare parts even for an old model–and they stand behind their product.

I purchased this item after a 2007 article in Gourmet magazine rating the top blenders. This was their #1 recommendation, so I purchased the item thinking that I would have the best blender out there. However, shortly after a year - the bottom of the jar cracked in 2 places. Liquid poured out through the bottom of the blender and was unusable. The item was never placed in the dishwasher and was used less than 10 times. After speaking with a “Jarden/Villaware/FoodSaver” representative, they informed me that I could not purchase a replacement top. My best option according to the representative was to “throw the item in the trash.” Needless to say, I will never purchase another Jarden/Villaware/FoodSaver item ever again. A complete waste of $165.

Bought one of these blenders to make coffee frappes….The ice cubes used to make this drink made 2 inch cracks on all 4 sides which leak…The jar is made of lexan and should be very strong. This was used in my home, not commercially. I contacted Villaware 6 months after purchasing and they do not have this item for sale in there online store, they will not replace nor repair product and you cannot even buy a replacement jar from them. I paid $199.95 for mine at William-Sonoma in Sacramento, CA. and didn’t get any satisfaction from them over the telephone, will try in person the next time I am down there…I do not recommend this product….

It was so pretty, I had to have it. Now I wish I would have bought another brand instead, maybe a Kitchen Aid. It works well, technically - - it really has tremendous power. Small flaw in that the little removable cup that serves has the lid handle is so far down into the lid that you cannot grip it, so really the lid must be grabbed from the corner to be removed. My other issue is that the thing is VERY TALL! It’s too tall to fit on my counter underneath the cupboards. I have to keep the base unit on the counter and the jar in the cupboard. Actual blending is good though. It can power blend pretty well.

I bought this blender 18 months ago at the Williams-Sonoma outlet at an outlet price and not expecting much. I have used it five to six days a week for the past 18 months and love it unequivocally. I burned through two of the Williams-Sonoma 375 watt Waring blenders so wanted a blender with a stronger motor to pulverize ice for smoothies.

I have not experienced any problems with the carafe but I hand wash it so perhaps that has kept the carafe from leaking. This is a wonderful product for making smooth iced drinks.

Bought this at Costco, after 2 months the jar cracked and leaked. It was never used to process ice, some frozen berries and well-soaked almonds was as tough as it got. Pity, the base is solid, the unit is quiet, and the blending was all we needed.

  • Keith :

This WAS a great blender. Then, (like all the other stories) it went bad (the crack appeared, a design flaw) and then teh disapointment… No replacements … just the, “Sorry, you are out of luck. Thank you. Goodbye.”

Unless you like disappointment, I highly discourage buying any Villaware products.

  • Newell :

Powerful motor but the canister cracks and you cannot get a replacement part for love or money. Don’t buy this Piece of S.

  • Besser :

Nice blender. Very fast and slim. It looks very good in my kitchen. No problems so far (almost 2 years).

  • Cuellar :

The “unbreakable” carafe has cracked and is not usable. I cannot find a replacement. First, I called Villa Ware and they told me that they do not stock parts. I then called all the retailers that they suggested, plus sellers on Amazon who offer this model and could find NO replacement parts. What to do?

  • Jakeway :

I have only had this blender now for a year and the polycarbonate carafe has been cracked for over half the time I owned it. Very disappointing. I bought this item from Williams Sonoma and they will take it back however, because they no longer sell this item in the store they are only willing to give me the last known price in the store which of course was on sale. It was a good blender however, my vitamix blows this blender away and cannot compete.
