waring pro professional blender Significant Information
I bought this blender two years ago to upgrade from my Oster blender. I loved the retro look until the cool little black pieces started peeling off. Well, that was only cosmetic, but what was that burning smell when I “pushed” the motor too hard? Why didn’t it make a simple fruit smoothie? This is a Waring, right? I have tried to love it. I have tried to forgive it. The truth is, I despise this blender. I gave my Oster blender to my mother-in-law. I wish I could take it back. I didn’t know how good I had it. I wish I had returned it the first time it couldn’t blend a frozen strawberry.

parts for black and decker blenders Free Related Tip
Looks great and I really liked it during the first three days. Only used it to make smoothies. Now the blade got loose and it is no longer working. Based on other reviews it is a design flaw. Bummer. I didn’t read them before.
This blender may be fine for some things but I have yet to determine what. I primarily use my blender (every day) to make a breakfast smoothie. I put in frozen fruit, milk, egg… After about a month of use, the screw holding the blades to the motor was stripped. I called the company and they informed me it was not meant for frozen fruit. This important bit of information should be printed big and clear on their packaging and marketing materials! They did send me a replacement part which was much appreciated.
I still use the blender, but make sure to break my fruit into very small pieces and put them in after the liquids. So far it has lasted several more months, but I’m expecting it to break again at any time.
However I will probably replace it before it breaks again because it has another beyond-irritating habit of blending a pocket of air in the middle of the goo that I’m trying to blend. So the blades spin around and around and nothing happens. I have to stop it, shake it around or stir it to pop the bubble, and start it up again. I have to do this between 2 and 10 times each time I blend something which infuriates me! That’s no way to start your day.
Prior to this I had an old Cuisinart blender that never had this problem and ran without any trouble for over a decade! I wish I had just kept that blender…
We got this one because it looked like it would last a long time, but like many of the other reviewers here, the blade on ours came loose and now it spins freely. I’m super disappointed but I will try the fix suggested by dbphoenix.
I bought this blender to replace my 30 year old 2-speed Oster workhorse. It still works but didnt make good smoothies. I had the Waring about a month and the spinning disc in the base (that moves the blade in the container) came loose. I have tried to screw it back down and it just wont go. Doesnt look like the threads are stripped. I have no idea what is going on with this thing. Sounds like other buyers have had blade issues of one type or another.
What a waste of money, and of course, no warranty.
I bought this blender because Waring USED to be a good name. It appears that isn’t the case any more.
I purchased this blender specifically to make smoothies. I wanted a durable blender that would be able to crush ice. Before this one I had a cheap plastic one. The ice cracked the plastic so I figured I’d get a better quality one.
I had this blender for ONE month before the blade broke. Took it in for warranty…guess what? Blade is not covered under warranty! Now this blender is in the trash.
What a waste of money! Seems there are no quality products made anymore.
Having arrived back from a Costa Rica, I wanted to continue the enjoyment of making frozen drinks. This Waring blender is the best I’ve ever had, or seen. It is large, powerful and very well made.Yes it’s noisy but not for long, and the results are worth every roar! This is the blender for those who are serious.
Excerpt from my Epinions Review
By: Digital Dude
Ok, the first thing you have to deal with is the fact that you just spent an inordinate amount of money on a countertop appliance. Anyway, after you get over that, things do get better. I opted for the 3.5hp MX1200 Extreme but not because of the power bump, but because I wanted the analog variable speed control. Aside from that; it’s nearly the same as the MX 1000. As for the speed dial? It was a bit of a gamble since these units are not readily available where you can look, touch and feel, so my selection was based primarily on printed data and gut instinct. The dial provides very smooth and gradual increase or decrease of the blender that is graduated from 1 to 10 and ranging from 1500 to 2000 RPM. Likewise, it includes the large paddle On/Off/Pulse switches. Do I think the speed dial is actually worth the extra 165-bucks? Well, it does provide me with a better sense of control for certain blends, so most definitely!
Anyway, the MX1000 unit is plenty overkill for most home kitchen fanatics so don’t overlook this more reasonably priced unit. Besides, if you think that 400-bucks is high for the MX1000; try the 1200~series and you will feel like you got off cheap! As such, do not expect any included fanfare like a recipe book or cute little accessories.
Based on comments regarding the slightly overwhelming appearance, I opted for the 48-ounce version since I did not need the higher volume, and it is 2-inch shorter so it actually fits under my kitchen cabinetry. As such, it tones down the countertop landscape while being easier on the eyes. BTW, if you want the 64-oz jar later on, you can order it as an accessory.
Noise: Well, it is not near as loud as my less expensive Cuisinart, though Waring does offer a sound dampening enclosure. Even with my old hundred-dollar blender, I used hearing protection so this is not anything new. Either way, it was a pleasant surprise since I expected a lot more noise.
Here are a few things I considered before purchasing.
Design & Support:
Despite all of the hype; the proverbial kitchen blender is a fairly basic concept. It consists of a Jar, Propeller and Motor, all combined to create a vortex to evenly circulate the contents in the container for a desired result. Some have programmable features to govern speed while others are more straightforward.
* Round or narrow jars appear to rely on a pulsing vertical vortex and blends smaller content items very well.
* Square jars permit larger items to be inserted with less preparation.
* Cloverleaf jars fall in between and rely on directionality to force the contents back into the propeller.
* Performance, Ease of Use, and Product Support (spare parts, accessories, etc.) are all important aspects to consider.
Customer Service:
If you can call a toll-free number and actually talk with a live person (in your language) and they actually know the product, then that’s a big plus.
Warranty:
The best warranty is the one you never have to use although if you do have an issue, then a 2-3 year parts/labor provision is reasonable.
Advice:
Read the “customer reviews” on each blender that you’re considering, paying particular attention to what people like and don’t like’. Always read and follow the manufactures safety precautions and warnings. Keep in mind that raw power of the motor is only part of the equation to a good blender, and that features, style and durability will determine your overall satisfaction.
The Bottom Line: If you blend smoothies or any other stuff on a regular bases, or you’re simply a quality geek, then you may love this blender as much I do.
Regards,
~DD
I have had this blender for two years. This blender is a Professional grade blender. It is very heavy and high quality. We make lots of smoothies using frozen fruit and burned up 3 others before buying this one. If you need a serious blender then this is the model to buy. I have yet to find anything that it can’t handle.
I bought this Waring MX1000 because of all the good reviews it had here at Amazon. I thought I was getting the best. Boy was I disappointed. Everybody else seems to love it.
Pros: Powerful.
Cons: Expensive, loud. It’s a commercial model so don’t expect any recipes whatsoever, or intructions or ideas on how best to use the machine. There’s no warranty card so make sure you keep the receipt from the company you bought it from. The manual, if you can call it that, is a sparse two sheets of stapled copy paper. It’s bulky. And it stops running entirely after two months of normal use. I did not abuse the machine, unless using it to crush ice is abuse.
I was ready to give it 3 stars until it stopped working. Motor death. It might be a lemon. People who are expert blenders and who know exactly what to do with a powerful blender they’ve never used before might be happy with this one. Just as long as they don’t need a smidgeon of instructions.
For me, I’m supposed to get an RMA and a refund shortly. I think I’ll go with Blend-tec or Vitamix now. In the meantime I’m alone and blenderless.
Bulky, noisy and takes up lots of space - BUT it is the greatest drink mixer you’ll ever buy. My wife is the queen of frosty drinks. With this blender the ingredients don’t separate half-way through your drinking pleasure. Our old mixer, also touted as a professional blender, caused the ingedients to separate in the glass after about 3 minutes. Have not seen that happening after this blender get’s through doing its job. Crushes ice without cringing and is esstially oblivious to anything thrown in, just blends everyting into a great pulp. Highly recommended for the serious frosty drinker.
We had an older Waring Pro blender whose blades tended to completely stop rotating (while the motor continued to turn) with heavier ingredients. Thinking it was a defect, we finally replaced it with this one and now have the exact same issue. The blade assembly seems to have some kind of protective clutch, but its too sensitive. So the “powerful 500 watt motor” is a waste because it’s handicapped by the weak blade assembly. It’s like a high-end sports car with defective tires. I would recommend avoiding any Waring blenders unless you’re only using the most viscous ingredients.
I have this Waring blender on the counter at my apartment and it matches my stainless appliances and looks great!
Most important the Waring really works well. I like mixed drinks like margaritas and I was looking for a smooth texture when mixing in ice cubes. The Waring delivers!
I also like the fact it is made in the USA although the great way it works is the most important to me.
This is my second Waring blender. The first one had a motor burnout after about 3 years and daily use. So far, I’m happy. This one has more power and the plastic jar has better sloped sides to feed things toward the blades. I also have the glass jar from the last blender - which looks better. So far, so good.
We are for the most part happy with this blender. The only disappointment was that the blender karafe is plastic , not glass. If I had known that in advance I probably would have purchased one that was glass.
