This blender replaced a Hamilton Beach blender I bought almost 30 years ago. That blender never gave me any problems but I thought the motor was beginning to struggle a little and it seemed like a good time to get one with more power. The Cuisinart SB-5600 has that. Unfortunately, in the short time I have owned it I am close to spending as much in replacement parts as I did for the blender. The glass jar broke first. The Hamilton Beach had a glass jar…the same glass jar for almost 30 years. This one seems sturdy enough, and I know things happen, but another glass object barely touched it. Next, a average size frozen strawberry got wedged in somewhere, somehow, bent a blade on the cutter and stripped the threads on the piece that engages the drive clutch. Still waiting for that part to arrive in the mail. I expect the flimzy black part that the glass jar screws into to go next. Buying two of these may be a good idea. You could use one for parts.

The blender does have good power. It also has good noise, but so did the Hamilton Beach. It seems like a lower speed or a smaller container is needed. If its not full or if you are mixing something like a smoothy it seems to cavitate very easily, even on the lowest speed, which eliminates all cyclonic action. The high speed is all but unuseable unless your making a large smoothy for more than one or the contents is thin. Once you figure out what it likes it works great…unless its broke.

This glass jar works great. My last one chipped at the bottom so when I blended anything it started to pour out once it was liquefied. This jar fit perfect and got here quickly. The lid is white, so it didn’t match the black bottom I had for my old jar, but it does the job.

I really like this blender becasue it is simple in its design, easy to clean, powerful, and userfriendly. The many accessories are also a great feature because I needed a food processor and like that I don’t need two machines. I have used the mini jar and it works great for making sauces and pestos. You can go from the blender to the fridge with this jar. It’s a very useful addition to the set. The large glass jar is better than a plastic one because it does not hold smells and is easy to clean. I am very happy with my purchase.

I purchased this after chipping my original glass jar. The blades fit the new jar just fine but the original lid to my glass jar does not fit, suggest purchasing the set with blades and lid.

I HAVE PRETTY MUCH EVERY MODERN APPLIANCE & GADGET A KITCHEN PRINCESS COULD EVER ASK FOR. MY ONLY PROBLEM WITH MY PURCHASES IS THAT COLORS CHANGE SO I MAY NOT WANT TO DISPLAY THEM ON THE COUNTER. SUCH WAS THE PROBLEM WITH MY ORIGINAL 10 SPEED OSTERIZER CIRCA 1969, A BRIDAL SHOWER GIFT FROM MY MOM, IT IS AVOCADO GREEN. I WANTED TO SHARE THE COUNTER WITH MY WHITE CUISINART FOOD PROCESSOR, GREEN KITCHENAID MINI PROCESSOR, GREEN KITCHEAID STAND MIXER, & WHITE MR. COFFEE——BUT NOT AVOCADO!!! THE SCARRY PART IS, THAT ORIGINAL IS STILL WORKING TO THIS DAY, 36 YRS. LATER, & STILL CRUSHES ICE TO BOOT! IT STOPPED ON ME LAST YEAR & AFTER I CHECKED IT OUT, IT WAS JUST A LITTLE BUILT UP STICKYNESS IN THE BASE. CLEANED IT OUT —– GOOD TO GO! WELL, I BOUGHT THIS ONE IN WHITE & IT’S JUST AS WONDERFUL AS THE ORIGINAL. I KNEW I COULD COUNT ON OSTER! THERE’S VERY FEW CHANGES, & THE ONE I LOVE IS THE NEW SHAPE—–WIDER GLASS JAR—-NO DOUBT THEY LISTENED TO THE CONSUMER—-THAT WAS THE ONLY THING I MIGHT HAVE CHANGED. THIS BABY IS A GREAT MACHINE—–BUT THEN “MOM” IS STILL A GOOD OLD GAL TOO! BUY “THE NAME” IN BLENDERS, & I HOPE YOURS LASTS 3 1/2 DECADES ALSO.

This is a good quality glass jar and I like it better than the square style that I had before. The plastic lid is a bit too flimsy, and if you’re not careful you can end pushing the center piece through.

When I broke my first glass jar, I thought I’d be forced to buy a whole new blender. But, alas! I found this jar and was delighted. Works and fits great!

The blender works well. Per the picture I thought I was getting a glass jar instead I got a stainless steel jar. The blender does work well overall I am satisfied with the product.

As mentioned by others, the plastic base of the cutter assembly started cracking on mine. I was thinking of replacing it when the glass jar broke and figured it was time to buy a new blender. I barely used this blender and never used it to blend ice, and it sounds it was a wise decision. The food blended in there was not smooth, unlike the one from my new Cuisinart. I too though that Black & Decker was a brand representing good manufacturing and solid long-lasting products, but I guess it is no longer true.

Replaced an 30 year old Oster blender with this KitchenAid - and I love it. I use it 2-3 times a week.

Pros:
1. Power: It makes terrific smoothies and handles both fresh and frozen fruit.
2. Appearance: I had originally planned to keep the blender in my appliance garage. But this blender is so attractive (brushed nickel finish with black top), that I’ve left it out on my counter. It looks great and goes perfectly with the appliances in my kitchen.
3. Ease of cleaning. My old blender had 4 parts (blade, gasket, jar, and bottom plastic piece that held the blades and gasket). It was a pain to clean. This one-piece blade and jar makes clean-up a snap. I fill the jar with warm water and a squirt of dish washing liquid. I can drop the blender lid and plastic cap into the the jar itself - and wash everything in one quick step.
4. Jar size. I love the 56 oz. size. I can make several large-size smoothies at once.
5. The polycarbonate jar: I was really worried about this because I had always had a glass jar. I was afraid it might scratch, break, or otherwise not last as long as my old glass jar. But I decided to take a chance and really appreciate the lighter weight.
6. Pouring spout: my old blender didn’t have a spout. You were expected to pour from one of the corners - and I usually made a mess. The shape of this jar makes pouring even full loads easy to do, especially since the jar itself is light.
7. Controls: My older blender had push buttons. No matter how carefully I tried to clean it, eventually dirt, spills, whatever accumulated around the buttons and couldn’t be easily cleaned. This blender is a snap to wipe off - and no grooves that can trap food.

Cons: It is noisier than my old blender. But all the pros definitely outweigh this con
