I recently picked this blender up when my old blender, a Kitchenaid KSB560OB 5-Speed Ultra Power Series Blender that was about 3 years old died. In defense of the old blender a small piece of chicken bone inadvertantly went in when I was blending homemade dog food so I consider it my fault. However, rather than fixing the broken coupler I decided it was a good opportunity to upgrade to something with more power.

My dream blender was a vitamix since I had heard rave reviews about it from friends who owned one. However after analyzing the cost I realized I didn’t need my blender to do as many things as it could promise given I already have a juicer, food processor, immersion blender and spice grinder at home. After reading about this blender it seemed like the perfect alterative. It’s still VERY well made and he design of the jar allows it to blend frozen fruit with ease, but it’s about half the price of a vitamix.

So far I’ve used it to make lots of smoothies, pureed dips, and other typical uses and it has performed all very quickly. The only thing that is odd to get used to is that after a certain point the blender turns off automatically but I have found by that point the job is usually done. I even as a test put in frozen chicken and vegetables with a little yogurt and rice to make some homemade dog food and it blended it up perfectly. Typically I would have defrosted the chicken first but with this new blender I didn’t have to.

Another plus is that because of the way the jar is designed clean up is very easy. I find that tiny bits of food no longer get stuck under the blade part and I spend much less time cleaning it, even if I leave it in the sink for a couple days without rinsing first.

Overall this is a great blender. I’m not sure if it could handle the range of tasks that a vitamix can do (although I haven’t tried) but if you have other appliances on hand you probably will not mention it above. Overall its a great quality blender that is consistent with what I have come to expect by also owning a Breville juicer and immersion blender. Highly recommended.

I just bought this blender last week and have made about 5 smoothies with it. For smoothies, I use frozen fruit, protein powder and rice milk. I let the frozen fruit sit in the rice milk for 5 minutes to start thawing out the fruit. Still, this POS blender cannot chop the fruit. The motor revs and revs and you can smell the little motor toiling away. Only the fruit at the very very bottom gets blended. I have to stop and stir and blend again. I wonder how long this motor will last as it strain to the verge of overheating.

I thought that $300 for a high quality blender was too much. I thought that if this one wore out and broke after a year, I would just buy another. That was a good theory provided that the blender could easily make a smoothie. I guess this would be good for soups but I am not even going to go there. I am going to return this ASAP.

If you do a lot of cooking or expect to blend ice or frozen fruit, keep looking for another blender. Trust me.

First, I have to tell you upfront that oster 18 speed blender is my favorite choice. Sure, there are other products in the same class, but frankly, none of them as good (in terms of quality). I do have to say this though. some other products may be better, but based on quality and price, oster 18 speed blender is the clear winner.

I’m planning to order a second one. We’ve had ours about 4 months, and we use it about 4 times a day, so having a second one would help a bit with washing the glass container. We love that it’s glass.

The only minor problem that we had the first few days was learning to screw the container into the blade-holding bottom part. You have to get it screwed on level to seat it properly, or it can leak a bit when you tip it. Not a big deal, though, and we haven’t had any problem since the second day or so, when we learned how to take the extra few seconds to prevent the problem.

It’s a solid product.

I HAVE PRETTY MUCH EVERY MODERN APPLIANCE & GADGET A KITCHEN PRINCESS COULD EVER ASK FOR. MY ONLY PROBLEM WITH MY PURCHASES IS THAT COLORS CHANGE SO I MAY NOT WANT TO DISPLAY THEM ON THE COUNTER. SUCH WAS THE PROBLEM WITH MY ORIGINAL 10 SPEED OSTERIZER CIRCA 1969, A BRIDAL SHOWER GIFT FROM MY MOM, IT IS AVOCADO GREEN. I WANTED TO SHARE THE COUNTER WITH MY WHITE CUISINART FOOD PROCESSOR, GREEN KITCHENAID MINI PROCESSOR, GREEN KITCHEAID STAND MIXER, & WHITE MR. COFFEE——BUT NOT AVOCADO!!! THE SCARRY PART IS, THAT ORIGINAL IS STILL WORKING TO THIS DAY, 36 YRS. LATER, & STILL CRUSHES ICE TO BOOT! IT STOPPED ON ME LAST YEAR & AFTER I CHECKED IT OUT, IT WAS JUST A LITTLE BUILT UP STICKYNESS IN THE BASE. CLEANED IT OUT —– GOOD TO GO! WELL, I BOUGHT THIS ONE IN WHITE & IT’S JUST AS WONDERFUL AS THE ORIGINAL. I KNEW I COULD COUNT ON OSTER! I love love love this blender. I have had mine almost a month and have made a smoothie every day. The trick is to use the blender correctly. I put a lot of frozen fruit in my smoothies as I am making for more than one person. At least two pounds, as well as frozen yogurt, protein powder, and milk. The trick is to TURN THE MACHINE TO ICE CRUSH AND WALK AWAY. Be patient. It takes 3 or 4 minutes of the pulsating to break down all of the fruit. After that is done, I turn it on speed one for about a minute and then speed two for about 30 seconds. Unlike other blenders where higher is better, the lower speed on this blender is where you get the vortex action that pulls down any non-pulverized fruit into the blades. I am not sure how the bottom is falling off for people. It is a bayonet style blade assembly. One simple twist locks it in place. Problems would arise if you twist the jar after it is on the motor, like when you take it off. Then I could see where the bottom would come off. But, pulling straight up that should never happen. I also read about the blenders turning off. I do think this in an automatic heat sensor. Mine did this the first couple of times I used it when I was just going straight to speed 4. After reading the limited manuel I discovered the need to use the ice crush feature. The automatic turnoff never happened again. I returned two Kitchen Aid smoothie blenders in the month before getting this one and I am very happy with it. It is much quieter than other blenders I have tried.

This blender works fine for making smoothies, if you run it long enough. However the bowl is very difficult to take apart - there’s no place to get a good grip to unscrew it. The labels on the buttons (”on” “off”) have worn off after a year. And sometimes on the “ice crush” mode, it simply unscrews the bowl instead of sucking down the ice! Also, the cover has all these little places where food can get stuck and it’s very hard to clean. You’d think after making blenders for decades, they’d have figured all these things out!
